For men, the ability to provide for our family is a sensitive thing. Right or wrong, we often draw a lot of our worth from the kind of lives we can give to those we love.

When that standard of living is put in jeopardy by the loss of a job, or home, or other difficult situation, we tend to immediately carry a burden larger than normal.

Several years ago, the home my wife and I had been renting for over 10 years was being sold. All but the first 6 months of our marriage was in that house.

Our two oldest took their first steps in the living room, and our third was crawling all over it when we were forced to move.

The weight of losing the place we built our family in was awful, but what compounded those feelings was the significant rent increase we were facing…

We had been greatly blessed to pay below market price for that home. Our budget options meant we were going…
